What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Hey Brass, that’s some nice shooting and a great example of the accuracy gained by reloading.
Here’s a caution for you when loading for pistol caliber rifles. Some manuals will show different data for handguns and rifles with the rifle data showing a higher starting point and a lower max. Reason for this is when shooting with a revolver quite a bit of gas pressure is released by the gap between the cylinder and the barrel. Thus creating less pressure in the barrel. However when shooting in a rifle this pressure release doesn’t happen so the barrel receives the max pressure.
Now, having said this I have no idea if your load is a possible problem. I didn’t look it up and if you’re not getting any signs of pressure wonderful. I shoot the XTP with H110 from my Big Boy Steel with great results similar to yours.

Just finished 50 .357 mags with 158 XTP and 125 XTP. HS-6 powder. I need to find large rifle primers... have powder and a lot of 45-70 brass and bullets just waiting.

Im thinking since Roze Dist doesn’t have any 158gr hp I will be checking out some 158 grhp plated bullets from xtreme bullets. Ive shot quite a few of there bullets with good results

Ive shot Berrys before Darin but I like xtreme better. I also think I get better accuracy with a hollow point. Ive not ever achieved the accuracy with the flat point that I have with a hollow point

Alright Al, I went ahead and loaded 10 of those 255 grainers over that 3031 load you shared.
I'll give 'em a try later today after me chores.

Will start loading up more .44 Specials to replace what I shot up over the weekend. The 6.0 Unique load shot well with the MB 240 gr. bullet with speeds 760-790 FPS range out the 7.5 revolver barrel. 5.0 Red Dot was in the 775-800 range which is good and accuracy good too.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Went in the shop to load some .45 acp, but, first checked my inventory on those. No need to load any right now, I need to empty some of what I have.
LOTS of those already to go! Some with 5.4gr Universal and a bunch with either 5.6-6.0gr Unique. All with 230gr LRN. Plus, 2-1/2 3lb coffee cans of brass for it. I'm really starting to think .45 acp cases reproduce in the shop! Lordy I have a lot of those. Going to rain all day, might load some anyway.
