you've chosen a good one .... our RCBS Rockchucker Supreme has been in service for approaching 60 years and is still going strong

Congratulations PJM, the Rockchucker was my first press in 1971. Just handed it down to my son who wants to start hand loading. You will find it extremely hardy and will give you years of dedicated service. Post some picts when you get it set up.

No, long story. I've had GSPs since the early 70s, she and her sister were out of a litter on a ranch south of Tucson. They both lived to 15 and sadly I had to put her down earlier this year with cancer. She was one of the best GSPs I ever had.

We rescued a 1 year old GSP a year ago that was abused and she is a work in progress but is getting better every day. I know what you mean about self control, we have been discussing rescuing another.

I did not like the single primer arm provided with it as every time I switched from large to small primers the tiny spring would fly off to some remote location.

After you get 'settled' look into an alternative priming system such as a Lee Hand Primer.

While the RCBS is better than some other press priming systems priming as a separate step with the hand primer is much more efficient and faster - especially if you are loading multiple calibers.

My RCBS primer arm & tubes have been back in their original box for many years now !

I agree with Mistered, I never had any consistency with my RCBS or Redding priming systems ( I run Redding T-7 turret). Instead, I have had great success and really like the Lee Auto Bench Priming system about 28.00 on Midway.

They really need to be set up an adjusted just right for proper feeding and consistency or they will jam, hang up etc. Also they can only be operated so fast or problems will occur.

The Lee is a no brainer. A quick change out from either the small or large primer ram assembly, insert the right shell holder, fill the tray with primers and prime away - and away from the bench if you like for a change of scenery.

I have the 'old' style Lee hand primer and the new style looks much better!

to set up the primers, I use a small LEE press, which can also be used for everything else on the go.
it works pretty well ...
it's not as fast as a real hand priming tool system,
but it's versatile, decape priming and all other tasks are possible ...

Not a reloader Yet, but just read the reviews on Amazon for the NEW Lee hand primer and they are not good. High praises for the old style but not the new one.

Not like I was planning on replacing mine but thought it looked better.

I have used both. The old style came with my Lee Challenger Kit and it worked just fine for thousands of rounds, but eventually broke while still under warranty. Lee replaced it with their new design, which I like better. I'd pay to replace it if I had to.

I have zero experience with either one, simply reading reviews to decide if I want one when I do start reloading. I will just read along and keep my inexperience to myself. Sorry.

The negative reviews are from people who believe that everything is operational out of the box and there is no learning curve. Those who read the directions, apply the suggestions, and take their time learning the system, as in any other, have no problem. I have primed at least 3-4K rounds and never had a single problem.

One of the things I like about this primer is that it can be bolted down (I use a 1X4 board, 12 inches long) and pushing the lever down is less fatiguing than squeezing a primer tool when priming 100 rounds plus. No matter what, it is much more reliable than the RCBS or Redding press priming systems.

Chevy's, Ford's, Dodge's, take your pick. I'm a Chevy guy.
