This may be too narrow a question, and MBC says they haven't researched it, so no help there, but here's what I'm after:

I like their "Hy Tek" coated projectiles (coated lead, RNFP, for the most part) and they're close by, so I can take a scenic trip and pick up my order, so they're the "preferred vendor" for purposes of this question.

The question being: is there a bullet shape/profile (probably 158 grains) that works well in the BBS as well as my Uberti SSA? I'm totally fine using different powders and/or charges, but I'd like to standardize on one projectile. They carry semi-wadcutters as well, but I have zero experience with that boolit.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts...

Their website is a little scattered. Under "Coated" and "357 Magnum", this shows up:

But under "Rifle Bullets" there are other, different coated projectiles. The #1 "Ranger" is one that RifleTom likes in his Henry, but he doesn't shoot the revolver:

I asked again of MBC (who seem to be answering questions on a Saturday afternoon!), specifically about the Ranger #1 (2nd link above) and he came back and said "No problem using the RNFP for both," which is what the Ranger #1 is...

Asked and answered, so there you go, for you who might be wanting to try these out. $43 + Shipping for 500 of 'em. Not bad!

I have had issues trying to seat 200 grain bullets in 357. 1.6xx inches max OAL. Not much room for powder.

Even better if picking them up at the factory.

My error. Edited that out, to 158. Got my boolits mixed up, as I'm planning/shopping for both. Could see how it might be tight!

I like MBC. Used the Buffalo #1 and #2.
If I could go pick them up I'd use them exclusively in my lever actions.

When I use lead I use there bullets. I have had good luck with them.

I think MBC Hi-tech coated bullets are as clean as using plated bullets.

shortly after buying our 45-70 I purchased several boxes of Missouri Bullet Company #2 Buffalo - Hi-Tek .459 Diameter 300 Grain RNFP bullets (link below) ... loaded some of them and they are very good looking bullets .... back then there was an ongoing thread discussing the wisdom (or lack thereof) in firing both jacketed and lead bullets through the same barrel .... a far more knowledgeable member than I'll ever be took the position that it wasn't good to do so .... as one who has always loaded jacketed bullets for use in his rifles, it wasn't hard for me to up those bullets on a shelf and not fire them .... that's where I still am today ... oh well, I've spent far more on things I ended up not using

I have read that but I havent shot enough of the coated ones to tell that. Right now the only lead bullets I use are in the 45 colt and I havent shot to many rounds of anything lately. Just have no time to get any shooting done.

Well, don't know about the Uberti, but 158 grain semi wadcutters chamber just fine my BBS.

You hit on the basis for my question, and I have no idea about using the SWC profile in the Uberti, either. The other thing that throws me a bit is the description copy on the MBC website about the SWC, which talks about it being "for magnum velocities," which is not necessarily what I'd be loading for when configuring ammo for the revolver.

Now that I've gotten some clarification from MBC that the RNFP would be good for either, I'll just go with a box of those. When buying lots of 500 at a time, I'd rather be sure! Besides, I've been using the RNFP HyTek 250 gr 45Colt just fine in that Henry/Uberti pairing.

Evan, MBC already answered this, but, I'll add that the .357 RNFP coated will work fine in a handgun. I have a Ruger Blackhawk, just don't shoot it as much as the rifle. Also, for trying different bullets from Missouri, they sell "Sample Packets"[100 ct. I think] for $15. For you, there would be no shipping. Win-win! I'll get a picture over of the 'ol Blackhawk later. Towel included of course.
