Loaded up some 190 grain Hawk FP for my 30-30 Henry Big Boy. I have not chronographed this load yet but it is darn good in the accuracy department.

33 grains of Leverrevolution.

50 yard groups with open sights 1.75”

I have used Hawk bullets years ago to take an Elk with the 30-30 in heavy cover it worked very well. the heart of the Henry really keeps the recoil pretty tame.

most interesting .... I've never fired anything heavier than a 170 gr in a 30-30

33 grains of LEVERevolution over 190 grains of lead.
Never having used LEVERevolution, what is the expected MV with that weight.

I've been growing fonder of heavy for caliber bullets.

I am going to guess around 2000 FPS from a 20” bbl. I will chronograph later this week when the weather gets just a little warmer. LVR is a fantastic performer in the 30-30 reaching velocities not achieved by other powders. The pressures run well within the design limits of the lever actions.

5 shot string 10 feet from the chronograph average was 2020 FPS.

I would think I could go up in charge and gain more velocity as pressure is low on this but the accuracy is good and that velocity seems good.
