45 Reloads
Off to the range with some ammo this week. 250 grain plated Berrys bullets and 250 grain cast with 8 grains of Unique. Sure like the way the Berry's shoot. Now I need a Skinner sight so I can really do some shooting or at least make some improvements with these old eyes. The peep sight on my M1 works really good for me so a Skinner will help a bunch. My Henry has been a great shooter. Now I have a picture of a 45-70 floating around in my head.

Re: 45 Reloads
I have a 45-70 awesome shooter. its in Remlin 1895 that I hand picked at wallmart for $575. Its a real shooter 1" 100 yd groups. say what they want about Remington made marlins but mine is a good one. 300gr hornady bullet smashed the steel I was shooting with .44 mag and 30-30s! You know you have a gun in your hands when you touch off a 45-70!

I like your comment you know you have a real gun in your hands with a 45-70. The same thought I have when I pull the trigger on my M1. Guess that is why I am not much of a 22 shooter. I have a very nice 22 Kal Mauser WWII training rifle. But I do have a grandson who can't wait to get it in his hands.

I don't mind the kick so much but don't like the noise.

I bought mine after hunting season, so I use hearing protection..should only hear 1 bang in hunting season! I installed a pre fit limbsaver pad and its great. My 15yr old son shoots it and loves it.
Re: 45 Reloads
A 45-70 has been on my mind also. I'm just afraid my .45 colt will be neglected. Can't let that happen.

Re: 45 Reloads
I think you will find the 45/70 to be a complement to the Big Boy not a replacement. Especially if you shoot factory style ammo.

Re: 45 Reloads
I find the 45/70 makes a loud boom as opposed to the crack of a necked cartridge. Not nearly as offensive to me as a 5.56 or 308. Those are great fun to shoot but not so much in the next lane.Sir Henry wrote:I don't mind the kick so much but don't like the noise.
