Speer .224 bullets

Speer bullets are not stocked at hardly any shops in my area. A shop that used to be a big dealer in bullets always had a good choice of Speer bullets but the owner sold the shop to big money people from the city and they ran it into the ground with their out of sight prices and eventually closed. I used their bullets for years and they always made some of the best pistol bullets. I also shot some of their rifle bullets in especially .224 dia. That was many rifles ago that I no longer own and lost records of the best ones I tried and the loads that were good. I do remember one bullet was a 52 gr. HPT that I believe they called a Gold Match. I remember it literally exploded varmints in my first generation Ruger Varmint 220 Swift. I can vaguely remember using the 50 gr. Speer and believe it was accurate in a couple 700 Varmint rifles I owned at that time. I found a place that has the Speer bullets in stock and the one I am interested in is the #1029 50 gr. spitzer lead tip. These bullets are priced half of the price of the #1330 Sierra 50 gr. Spitzer. I could shoot 2-1 over the Sierra priced 50 gr. With my wife and I having at least 6 rifles that shoot .224 dia. bullets at least a few should probably do decent accuracy with the Speer bullet. Shooting several thousand bullets some years the price matters when buying components as long as the results are satisfactory. We don't shoot competition so we are only interested how they work for prairie dogs out west and varmint shooting in Pa. and Md. If any members here have used the Speer 50 gr. and can give any info on how they shoot for them in their rifles I would like to hear. I am not asking for load info just the accuracy you have experienced. I can get the Speer bullets for $90/thousand and the Sierra 50 gr. for $180.

I've been using Sierra Blitzking in .224 .55 grain bullets for a couple of years now, and I really like them.
There made for varmint and predator hunting, but I use them as the Do All round. I don't do any predator hunting unless I need to take out a a coyote. I love the way these bullets destroy targets. There very accurate also. At least through my AR15.
