really bulk lead
I saw an ad on CL today in the boat section. Someone was looking to buy lead keels from sailboats. I wonder what he wants that for? I'll bet he's either a bullet caster or selling chunks to casters.
Any load data discussed by me is for entertainment purposes only. I can not condone or be responsible for it's use by others.
Re: really bulk lead
Sounds like a lifetime supply of lead. If I knew where one was available it would be impossible NOT to make an offer.

Watch out for the new tire weights= not lead anymore don't get them in your pot of melted lead.

I work in an auto repair shop. No shortage of fresh wheel weights for me. Too bad so many states are outlawing lead wheel weights. We can still run lead in Wisconsin, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time until they regulate them away completely.Sir Henry wrote:Tire weights makes good bullets too.
Our cast bullets from the wheel weights are never just pure lead. We also hoard pewter to form alloy. Always on the hunt for pewter nic nacs

Zinc, steel, and lead free tape weights.Sir Henry wrote:

No clue what the tape weights are made of. They're spongy and pliable like rubber, but are obvious quite dense and heavy. Steel weights are easy to identify and can be tossed in with the shops other scrap metals. Zinc is the most difficult to discern from lead.
Re: really bulk lead
It's the zinc that really ruins the mix in the lead pot.
Re: really bulk lead
A friend of ours up in NW MT sold a HUGE amount of lead to a reloading man a few years ago. He did not sell it my husband - we did not want it.
My husband used to cast bullets often and he can still do this. He has a bit of real lead on hand. He used to be a high volume shooter and not only in competition shooting.
I don't know if my husband will keep all of his cast bullet stuff or not.
