.44 Magnum reloading dies

Post by rfd » Sat Feb 22, 2025 10:18 am

I never ever buy centerfire cartridges and have been loading rounds for all manner of cartridges since the early '60s, but never messed with the .44 Magnum.

I only use jacketed or gilded bullets for my long range cartridges from .223 to .30-06, and my .45-70 rifles only get cast bullets and slicks in either pure or tin:lead alloy flavours. Bullets are either SPG or Gato Feo lubed, or powder coated, slicks are always paper patched. I'd like to continue this kinda cartridge building with the forthcoming .44 Magnum loading.

I already have a Henry H010GCC .45-70 that will be used for long range (to at least 400 yard and beyond) target shooting. Some of the PPB rounds will require single feed loading, too.

SO, for my forthcoming Henry H012GCC rifle ...

What's a good bullet (lubed groove) bullet mold for 200 and 240 grain that cast as pure lead or 1:20 alloy? These will also be powder coated as well. These are to be magazine fed. Cast diameter is a concern. Don't yet know what the land and groove diameters are for the Henry H012GCC .44Mag.

What's a good and useful die set for this cartridge? Some rounds may be taper crimped (for single feed) but most will be roll crimped for tube magazine use..

Notice I'm not using that useless "best" word. 8-)

Much obliged to y'all for any assistance!
The only government I trust is the .45-70 Gov't.
