.44Mag PPB ?

I build paper patched bullet (slicks) cartridges s for both black and white powder for all my .45-70 rifles, and will be doing the same with a new-to-me Henry H012GCC in .44Mag ... never had this cartridge, it's a first for me..
For the black it's pretty easy and just a matter of sizing a slick or bullet down enuf so that patched it'll be a bore rider., and that'll mean single feed for a lever action. I've got plenty of Swiss black powder in 1-1/2F for the .45-70 and 3F for the flint guns, no powder problem there.
White smokeless will require a slick or bullet cast to land size and then paper wrap to groove size.
For building lubed bullet .44Mag cartridges, what powders are y'all using for rifles? Currently on hand I've only got A2400, N140, Varget, AA2460, AA5744, W231, Green Dot, and WST available for loading ... I know the A2400 and AA5744 will be good choices but would like to use W231 and possibly Green Dot as well.

In 44 mag. I use H110, 2400, and Unique mostly.
I have a little green dot, but never tried it in the 44's.

I'd suggest that you get a copy of Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook. They have tons of data for use of cast bullets in cartridge based firearms, and that includes powder charges. There are a few powders that are known good performers for cast bullets, which need to be loaded to significantly lower velocities than jacketed bullets. I've heard that 5744 can be used in almost anything, so a good start having that, but for anything else, I'd buy the book.
Another option is the on-line Hodgdon's Reloading Data Center. They list loads for subsonic and reduced recoil, and you may find something of value in that data.

Yep, got all the books, or at least most. None really get into W231 or Green Dot. But I did find the GMDR site that has some interesting lever gun data with all manner of powders and load recipes.
