Well arent these fancy

Post by Bill.68 » Thu Jan 30, 2025 5:52 pm

I thought I took pride in the appearance of my handloads but this guy is on another level with his presentation.
I had to order some cast from another vendor since GT Bullets has ceased operation so I found Montana Bullet Works. Very pricey, too pricey in my opinion but I can tell that these are quality cast bullets. He details all the specs on the site and all of the extra steps he takes and the certified alloys and the top end lubes and silica dustings but the first thing a customer sees ypon receipt is the packaging and this is top shelf.
Check this out.

Sadly though I could only justify a few hundred of these beauties. These are my absolute favorite 357 bullet, the venerable 358156 with a GC. An outstanding bullet.

Nice looking bullets. They look long, like they'd weigh more than 158 grains.
And with there being lube only in the bottom two grooves, that's interesting too.

Let us know how they shoot for you.

OK, youre right, they weigh 160gr. I took 10 randoms out to weigh and measure. Theyre pretty accurate and consistent, between 162 and 163 and all were spot on at .358".
The lube grooves, Im guessing youre not familiar with the 358156 bullet, are the the lower ones and the two grooves at the top are dual crimp grooves, wouldnt want lube in those. The 358156 is one of the best ever designed for the 38/357Mag. Thats not just my opinion. They may look long but you have to consider the angle of the pic.

Back in the day when I worked for a place that sold Lyman molds the 358156 was the best selling mold of all regardless of caliber.

Yeah, it shoots well in all of my 357 revolvers and in my little 16" rossi theyre fantastical so I am always looking for nice ones, until I can start casting them myself.
