357 Max brass

Post by DWD445 » Thu Oct 13, 2016 3:45 pm

Got my order of 357 Maximum brass from Starline the other day and from Missouri Bullet Co.
180g plated bullets. Loaded 100 and hope to try them out Fri. or Sat.
I'm a bit new at reloading, but thought it was odd for a Major manufacturer to have 10% of 250 cases
at the proper trim length and the rest were .005"-.015" short ??? But they were shiny !!

Max case length is 1.605 and the trim length is 1.595. Starline trim's them from 1.590 to 1.600. So, .015 is still within spec (1.590-1.605). Not sure were you see a problem or if there is a problem, but your good to go in my opinion. Also, straight wall cartridges don't grow in length when fired.
