CCI LP primers........

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Jan 03, 2023 1:57 pm

I see my LGS has the standard non mag CCI LP primers in at 99.99 for 1K. Looking at online sources I have dealt with primers Winchester or CCI are $ 79.99 to 89.99 when they have them. Plus the shipping and hazmat fee might as well just buy local. So I have that shops 50 buck gift card to use.

If'n you need them, may as well snag them. Locally, haven't seen any, only on line. Glad I'm ok at this point.

I'm not desperate enough to pay those prices.

Yep. Pretty much where I'm at. Buying bullets[Missouri, XTP, T & B etc], seem to be reasonable and good. Powders are getting better somewhat, but, primers, well, too damn expensive or not available. Crazy times for sure. Lets all hope things will get better.

But what if availability and prices don't come down? I hate to live my life by "what ifs?", but when yer outta primers, ya need 'em.

I've needed some LP primers for a very long time for my .45 ACP. When they had some bricks of these at my LGS, I paid pretty much the same price as fortyshooter for those CCI primers to have some. I'm definitely not thrilled to pay that price, but I do get the warm fuzzies by finally having some. Some is better than none.

There's also another angle I feel is kinda important to me. That same local gun shop is a small business. Oregon's new gun law, if it does happen to take effect similarly to how it's written, would cripple that shop's business, even if only temporarily. I've heard, but not directly from the owner(s) themselves, that they're considering a move to a more hospitable state. I'd like them to stay. I'll support them as best as I can afford to.

I've said it before, like it or not, if you want to play, you have to pay. There is no rhyme or reason for the price of primers, but anyone who waits for it to get better is going to be left behind, its only going to increase.

That old advice...when you see them pick up a box whether ammo or reloading items even if you don't need them at the present time.
I'll have about 50 bucks of my own money in the primers and that about what I paid last year when a bunch came in. Look at the price of 45 Colt and how many you could load for the 99.99 of primers.
