New .30-30 Dies- Itching To Get Started

Post by ditto1958 » Wed Sep 21, 2016 11:16 pm

Well, I'm almost ready to start loading for my .30-30 lever guns. I got a set of dies, bullets, powder, primers... but I need a turret to put the dies in. Hrmph. No one around here carries them in stores, but one should be here from Amazon on Friday. I also will be getting dies for 35 Remington soon. That's the one I really need to start on. A box of factory ammo is hard to find, and costs 2X the price of factory .30-30.

I'll agree that MidwayUSA is a good source of all things shooting.

Best of luck with the new dies.

Well. Tomorrow we shall see what happens. Loaded up my first batch of .30-30's tonight and will take them to the range tomorrow. Sierra 150 grain bullets. IMR 3031 powder. Hopefully I will not blow up. :)

Went to the range today. Took awhile to get on the paper, as my reloads were hitting way off from where the factory ones go. Once I got zeroed in, I shot a one inch three shot group. Not bad for my first try.

New 30 30 Dies Itching To Get Started

RCBS is good stuf from what I am told. I liked the turret system and the ability to change caliges and not have to adjust dies. I am loading pistol and rifle and it was the best compromise for me.

Ditto, you may have more than Henryitis. You may have Gunitis. :D

Good luck with your reloading. It's an area I don't think I'll ever venture to.

Could be. I have been through bouts with Marlinitis, CZ-itis and Rugeritis. Those could all just be manifestations of gunitis. :)
