45 Colt load I was shooting yesterday...
A 260 gr. cast flat head loaded over 8.8 gr of Unique. about top level for a Ruger New Vaquero and it shot well in the Rossi Ranch Hand too.
Would get the job done on most things.

Re: 45 Colt load I was shooting yesterday...
How comfortable were they in the Ruger?
Right handy hunting load, for sure.
A little lighter bullet, but
I have shot some 250gr rfn MB over 10.o grs of Unique through the Marlin Cowboy.
I would think both my Ruger BH and Vaquero would handle that load,
not sure how comfortable it would be. You think not?
I've shot 10.0 grs of Unique under a 240gr SWC in my 44mag. Vaquero.
In fact that very load slapped a small fork horn to the ground at 20 yds. a few yrs ago.

Good question. If you're shooting those in the Vaquero, they can't be as nasty as some of those BB Ruger only 45 +P Colt loads I used to shoot in the big Blackhawk.
Just noticed the stag grips on your Ruger. I love stag grips on a single action.

Just remember that the first Ruger Vaquaros were on the same frame as the Blackhawk. The later ones , those made now, are on a smaller frame close to the Colt and should not get any "Ruger Only" loads. loads.

10 grs. of Unique would pushing it on the small frame New Vaquero as it used to be called. Would work fine in the large frame Ruger Blacvkhawk.Vaquero wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 4:48 pmHow comfortable were they in the Ruger?

If I recall it may have been Precision Casting. Have to look and see if I have the box with a few left over.
