If primers are 10 cents each a factory round at 30 cents doesn't sound so high. Our US "Dollar" doesn't buy a whole lot any more.

That’s a good point. Makes that $17 9mm ammo not such a terrible deal. Of course the ammo manufacturers who make their own primers aren’t paying .10 but it does put prices in perspective.

Not sure how long prices will hold at current levels. But there are some calibers that are better bought than reloaded when one is talking about cost. One example right now is what Hatch mentioned 9mm

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I was just forced to buy, or stop shooting, large pistol primers from Midway. The primers were 10 cents each plus shipping and hazmat fee. Comes to around 13.5 cents each. That makes reloading 45 ACP and 45 Colt pricey, but still about 1/2 of what factory is for 45 ACP and maybe 1/4 of the 45 Colt price. Still worth it to reload.

Primers are getting harder and harder to find in Aus. I still had about 10k left from a business we sold 12months ago. Took them along to a shoot a few weeks back, sold the lot and could have sold 10x the amount. Sold them at current retail price which is about double that of 12 months ago.
CCI & Fed small pistol & small rifle $160/1000
Match primers $200/1000
Large rifle magnum match $220/1000

No one blinked at the price in fact the most common questions were is that all you have and do you have any more.

Well, I stumbled upon some more yesterday. This particular shop is 45 miles away so I don't get by there often, but knowing Friday I was going 2/3rds the way Sat. for a birthday party.
I called and asked if they had any 4350 powder and he said they did.
So I went by and sure enough they had the powder, but also a large quantity of spp's and a one brick of lpp's, so I got one of ea. 😉
Never used any Federal primers before.

Nice Score Swearingin ! Just scored two bricks of Small Pistol Magnum from Midway. I got a notice of the small pistol in the AM and waited til the afternoon and they were all gone. Slow is fast, fast is slow.
I have used Federal (I have been stocking whenever CCI, Fed, WIn become available.) Federal have preformed fine. (Also scored some Federal 209s for shotgun, and they preform well also).

Hey, at least you guys got 'em! I don't need any, but, if I found some, yeah, probably. Always good to have a surplus.

Tom, didn't really need them, but who knows what the next year or so may be.
Better safe than sorry.
They had some 2400, and I nearly grab one of those, but I have 2+ lbs. at the moment.
Now if they had of had some red dot I'd grabbed a couple of those for sure.

😳 Yep, I found some small pistol primers at one of my stops today.
Oh my...🤨

At another stop I saw 4 Henrys, two single shot shotguns and a lever action 410, and a golden boy. The most I've seen in one place in a good while.

Nice find. I have an entire new RCBS Rebel single stage system that's been sitting for a long time, new/ unused in the box. Can't locate any small rifle primers or any primers whatsoever, for a reasonable price.
