So, I am looking fro some suggestions on loads to use with my X 45 Colt. main purpose of this rifle is hunting Whitetails although it is possible I could come across a Black Bear. I am assuming for jacketed loads I would use bullets with a .451 diameter and for hardcast .452? Thanks for any info that can be offered.

I mostly shoot cast in my two 45 colt rifles, a Rossi 92, and a Marlin Cowboy.
Shooting a 250-255 gr cast, I've had some good results with 8.0-9.5 grs. of unique.
And 6.0-6.5 grs. of Red dot, the same loads of RD with a 200 gr. cast are fun also.
The only jacketed bullet that I've ever tried was back in the Summer using a 250 gr. Hornady xtp. I was using 2400, here is what each rifle liked.

Yes, Unique and Red Dot are standards. I've also had very good luck with Universal/250gr coated rnfp. Hard to beat that Unique load tho.

Yep Unique is a gold standard with a 250-255 gr. hard cast bullet and Alliant 2400 with that 250 XTP bullet is a heavy hitter.
