Nosler Varmageddon Bullets

I've long nursed a hope of being able to one day be able to varmint hunt gophers, coyotes or other such critters out west at long distances .... unfortunately, with each passing year that hope seems to dim more and more .... Shooter's PRO Shop has blems on sale for the best price I ever recall seeing ===> $22.95 for a box of 100 so I just placed an order for 200 Nosler Varmageddon 30 Caliber (308 Diameter) 110 Grain Tipped Flat Base Bullets https://www.shootersproshop.com/30-cali ... -blem.html

we have three 30 caliber rifles I can fire them from .... a Browning BLR 308, a Remington Model 700 30-06, and a Remington 700 chambered for 300 WBY Mag .... all three have proven to be very accurate at 200 or more yards but I've never fired a 110 gr bullet from any of them .... does anyone have any experience loading and firing such light weight 30 caliber bullets .. ..

Hey Jim, if nothing else they'll be some cheap plinkin'
I ordered 300.
Got a marlin 308 MX that slings some pointy 125's pretty accurately, I just load them single shot style.
Plus an old 06.
Might be some fun, we have a few coyotes, might get lucky .
Thanks for the heads up, not that I really need them but that's a good price.

good price indeed .... a 308 can be loaded to push them out the barrel at around 3,500 fps .... I haven't run it through a ballistic program but that has to produce a relatively flat trajectory well on out there

The ballistics of the MX is very similar to the old 300 Savage and/or the ole 307 Win.
The rifle is very accurate, should be fun to play with.
I've never shot any light bullets in the 06.

Speer used to make a .308 130 gr hollow point. I loaded up a bunch and shot them in my Ruger 30-06 and they were incredibly accurate. The most accurate bullet I ever shot in that rifle. I used them on Rock Chucks (Marmots) and they were devastating on those critters. Unfortunately Speer no longer makes them but this tells me that your lighter bullets “should” shoot great in your .308 and 30-06. The 300 might be just a bit fast for a lighter bullet (?).

I suspect so .... if/when I work up loads with them, I'll probably do 5 or so for the 300 just to see

I switched to using the 55gr Varmagedons from 55gr Sierra Blitzking in my 240wby.
Not as accurate in my rifle but still shoot Moa, at less than half the price of the Blitzkings I will take a slight reduction in accuracy.
