Who else loves shooting the special
In the big boy rifle?
I really enjoy shooting it now that I
Have some of the past issues worked
Out of it. That little special is damn accurate.

Curious what issues you had. I have some 44 special brass that I've never loaded. I have used 41 special brass in my 41 magnum. those however, because there is not actually a 41 special round, are loaded to magnum loads. It did not like JSPs. stripped the jacket on one of the test rounds and left it rolled up in the chamber like a doughnut due to the high speed jump to the rifling. Linotype bullets seemed to work just fine.

My issue was the commercial bullets were just too hard like a bhn of 28/31 etc. Plus the faster I tried to push them the worse it got in 44 mag. Happen to stumble on some light loads in the special and everything came together them. Now I use nothing over a bhn of 10 to 12 and the rifle shoots the 44 mag great. In fact I was hitting the steel at 300 yards after I got the sight setting right. Not cansistent but hitting it. 240 gr bullets..

300 is a long way to lob a 44 pumpkin ball. I don’t believe I’ve shot mine over 100-150. I’ve shot my revolvers further than that but not the Henrys. I just consider them 100 yard guns. 150 max. It’s good to know you can reach out and touch something at that distance.
