Morning, these 245 gr bullets are to long to feed thru the 44 mag action of my Henry b b,but work fine with the 44 special.
If I decide to use these for hunting, what velocity
Do you think I will need for deer hunting at ranges
From zero to maybe, 75 yards. Thanks..

You could back off a little on the powder charge and seat them deeper to cycle through your rifle. .

what's the oal of your bullet, I load 45 colt with a long bullet (GT 255gr lhp) that is .066" longer than 45 colt 250gr bullets I set them to the crimp grove at 1.645", cycles fine, normal length is 1.600" The action for a 44mag is the same action as the 45 colt (inside of the frame is marked 44/45) What I did to determine how long to make my bullets I set a bullet very long (no seating or crimp a dummy round) and cycled it and let the chamber determine length, it will push the bullet into the throat you'll get some rifle marks on the bullet. Then shorten the OAL about .020" should work. Make a half dozen dummies and try them thru your rifle, worked for me.

I've run 240, 250 and 300+ gr cast bullets through my BBB 44 without a hitch.
My 41 mag BBS will even cycle 270+gr cast without a problem.

I had some Linotype 41 magnum bullets I had to buy 41 special brass for. They were too long too. I loaded those 41 spl to magnums and worked fine. I wouldn’t suggest loading hot magnum pressures with 44 spl brass, someone some day might try those 44s in an actual 44 spl and lose some fingers. There is no such thing as a 41 spl so that risk isn’t there.

Load em light in 44 special brass and enjoy the plinkers.

Love the 44 special. Great shooter..so if I load these swc deeper in the 44 mag, how much do you think I ought to back off the powder charge?
