Hornady 140gr XTP. 357
Hornady 140gr XTP. 357
If anyone sees some of these traveling to there local gun stores let me know. Id like to buy a box at a decent price. I see some on Gunbraker but Im not paying 50.00 for 100 bullets. I want to load some up and see how they fair in my Single Shot. Was thinking also about trying some MCB 140 but not sure I want 500 of them.

Al, I haven't been to any candy stores since I got the Cimarron.
That was back in June I believe, but if I do and see some I'll let you know.

I’ll keep my eyes open, I’m starting to see more and more Hornady bullets on the shelf. In fact a local shop had the 41 210 XTP’s the other day. $38 a box seemed a bit steep so I passed as I’m good on them for now.
Re: Hornady 140gr XTP. 357
Thanks Gents. Like I mention I saw some on GB there prices were out of line. Who knows if you guys find any it may be the same case.

I went to there site and they look good but the banner at the top says at least 2 months for an order. Currently processing orders from April. Sounds like there a little farther behind than 2 months.

Al, Missouri sells sample packs of 100 bullets of you choice. Might be worth a look.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 10:33 pmIf anyone sees some of these traveling to there local gun stores let me know. Id like to buy a box at a decent price. Re: Hornady 140gr XTP. 357
I love the FTX in 30/30 and tried them in my 357 but couldnt find any advantage to them.
You will need a special seating steam to load them or will run into issues damaging them seating with a conventional seater.
I found the due to the flex tip adding length and the canelure being designed to give the correct OAL length to function through lever actions they ate into case capacity. Accuracy was good but in the end I couldnt match the velocity of 158gr due to the useable case capacity as I ran out of room before getting near max pressures. End result was a 20gr lighter bullet at the same velocity with similar accuracy and similar BC so no real advantage.
In a single shot if you can seat to a longer OAL and not use the canelure they might offer some advantages.

Re: Hornady 140gr XTP. 357
Thanks for the info 220 but Im looking for the XTP 140 and not the FTX. Im shooting them in a SS Henry so I have more flexibility than a levergun does.
