I wouldn't hesitate at moderate distances.

Forgot to mention it was a 44,but I suppose you figured it out..What is a moderate distance? 50/75 yards I'm guessing.

Well I figured 44 or 45 colt, and yes 50 to 75 yds. even a 100 if you practice and know you can hit what you're aiming at at a particular distance. I once took a decent 8 point around 90 yds away with my 357.
I also got a small buck with a scoped 44 pistol some years ago at around 60yds., but I don't know what bullet that was.

Try using 260 gr hardened Cast Performance gas checked bullets. They are accurate and will take out most anything that walks this continent.

If they are from GT bullets they feed fine. I just shot some Tuesday, fed and worked great!! :D :D . They sat on top of 11g of HS-6 seated to the crimp grove left them @ 1.630", the bullets are .060" longer than 250g rnfp bullets from MBC. In my Henry BBS 45c no problems feeding. I figured MV was around 1400+
