Like I said Forty, your a machinist, I went to public school. The thickness of the strap is: It won't fit in the gap, the gap is: smaller than the strap.
Looked for something else to use as the strap, gave up. Its just easier to use my DLX with the Henry's and the V3 on everything else.

Understand and use what is simple to setup. On one that is too tight I might make up a block with a radius cut to fit around the mag tube.

I mount the chronograph on a height adjustable camera tri-pod about 5' ahead of the muzzle. No issues with muzzle blast affecting chrony even with hot .45-70 rounds.
