.357/180gr MB/Universal
Well, certainly like the MB 158 rnfp coated and 6.0gr Universal in my Henry, but, I cannot find any data with Universal and MB 180's.
Damn the luck. If you folks find anything, let me know. If that info isn't out there, I'll stick with my original load of 2400. That works.

Re: .357/180gr MB/Universal
I don't see anything Tom, I even checked an old Contenders loading manual, Nada.
Heck as long as I had plenty of 2400 I wouldn't worry to much.
Before we all got to playing with the 2400,
I was getting some pretty good accuracy with a little 0ver 9.0 grs of Blue dot with the 180's if you have any or see some.

Not sure why you would want to try that because those 180’s shoot so well with 2400

Nothing like, a little experiment ever now and then AL.
Besides, never hurts to have a backup.

Understand that. I know what I would do for a load if I wanted to try Universal. The burn rate for it is right next to Unique on the chart.

As much Unique as I've used over the years, I'm not sure if I ever tried it in the 357.

6.0 grains in 357 of Unique works pretty good

Re: .357/180gr MB/Universal
RT, Al, sorry I'm late to the game. Its been a toasty 117 in these parts !
I have had great luck with 2400 for the Henry and Bullseye for the .357.
For the Henry with 180 grn MB, I drop 10.8 grains. It prints well and averages 1428 fps. This has been my best formula for the Henry.
12 round string at 100 yards, bench rest, iron sights.
For the Python and Blackhawk I am shooting Hornady XTP at 158 grains, my favorite weight, or 110 grains for plinking. In both cases I have the best printing with Bullseye.
158 grain out of the 4 inch python, off hand position at 40 yards.
110 grain out of the snake, same distance and position

I don't know about that 40, I just close my eyes, turn my head to the side and pull the trigger !
Love that snake and blackhawk, it is probably more to do wit the quality of the system tan the operator.

Re: .357/180gr MB/Universal
Well, after looking at my old targets and looking at r-n-g's and getting opinions here, I'll stick with the 2400/180 load. And save my Universal for the 158's and my 1911-A1.

Just remember RT, to improve your target hits, close your eyes, turn your head to the side and pull the trigger !
