I found out that the 240 gr cast bullets are a little to long to feed thru the action. I'm seating them to the crimp groove. My question is,would it be alright if I shortened the case just enough so they will feed better. I'm talking only a few thousand . ? Thanks for your advice.John

What is your COL? I shoot the Missouri Bullets 240 gr. SWC bullet seated at 1.600-1.605 and they feed fine in my Henry Carbine.

I wouldn't shorten the cases. You may have to trim to SAMMI length[once], but don't shorten them. There seems to be another issue at hand here.
We'll help you get this figured out.

I agree with the others, I have cycled some 320+ gr cast through mine with no problem.

I'm not sure where I even got these 240 swc from. But they were a bit to long to feed thru the Henry. Just out of curiosity,it took 15 thousands of one case. Seated the bullet and it fed great. No problem. I don't see where this will be an issue, except to keep the cases all in the same box.. I'll have to try to find out where I got them from.

Sounds strange to me. I have never run into a 240gr swc with a crimp groove that would make a round to long to run in 44 mag. If you trim all your cases .015 you probably now are going to have some cases that are shorter than they should be.

Haven't only done one of them. But,like I'm saying they will not feed. After doing some research,I have found a few articles about the same thing. Especially with 357 lever guns..

...and possibly resulting in over pressure loads. I wouldn't shorten them. There is something else at play here.

Pictures would help of the bullet itself. Also whats the COL when you load one without trimming
