Primer alternative

Talking with a lgs dude. He indicated the small pistol mag primer is a match with the small rifle primer. If so, I have 500 primers to start my grendel loading project. As ammo is impossible to find, loading my own seems the only way to proceed.

I have finished a 6.5 grendel build. I need ammo to function test and sight in. The case for this ammo is ridiculously small. No bigger than my 357 cases.

I also found some H380 powder that will work. As usual, I’d rather be lucky than good.

I’ll keep you posted.

naturally, it ain't recommended but, out of necessity, I've had to use rifle and pistol primers interchangeably .... never have had a problem but don't do it unless I simply have to

There is a size difference with large pistol and large rifle so if it is done one better make sure it seats properly or you may have issues

absolutely correct .... large rifle primers measure about .128 inches tall and .212 inches wide .... large pistol primers are a touch smaller at .120 inches tall and .211 inches diameter on average.
