New to reloading

Post by reedman » Mon Dec 14, 2020 1:30 pm

After searching for ammo for the past month or so, and being only mildly successful, I decided to go with reloading. Purchased my RCBS Rock-Chucker Supreme kit, along with the appropriate dies and shell holders. Looked at the Nosler regarding powders and primers, and put notification alerts on everything at a number of shops. Now all I need are supplies...

Good luck I hope you are able to find supplies as its really tough to locate primers right now. You might have luck with bullets brass and powder.

Reedman, welcome to the forum. What caliber(s) are wanting to reload for?
I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Welcome aboard Reedman ! You will get some great advice on the forum from a group of dedicated and experienced loaders ! I learn something new every time I log in.

You jumped in at just the wrong time ! We are all starving for components. Hopefully things will start to break loose in three or four months.

you picked a fine press .... our 55+ year old our Rock Chucker still churns out to quality ammo .... just like every other place that offers reloading components, Shooter's Pro Shop is out of stock in many areas .... when it comes to Nosler bullets, it pays to closely monitor their site .... their prices are outstanding .... what calibers are you going to load .. :?:

My first project will be .357 mag, because I need to spend some quality time with the BB. That will be followed by .45 ACP, 9mm, and lastly 22.250. I did locate a RCBS shell holder #6 finally, at a very reasonable cost, from Amazon!

I see by your intro that you’re from Ok. Check for a local guntrader type of website, maybe some kind soul will give you a few primers and bullets to start learning with.
