I was getting low on Sierra 55 gr. bullets for my 222 loads. Looked at quite a few web sites and every one was out of stock or said Notify. Wednesday I took the day off from hunting and made a trip for a LGS to pick up their order of powder and bullets and primers. So while I was there I asked the guy doing the order for the Sierra bullets I need and he checked the inventory and said he had two boxes. I told him to add both boxes to the order if he could. So now I have two hundred and maybe another 60 left in the box I was loading from so I will be OK on the 55 gr. Sierras for a while with them being only used in the Sako 222. Always nice to have a few to fall back on with things being a little scarce right now. The shop I went to pick up their order for only got about a third of what they wanted. They only got a few boxes of primers and 22 ammo was none available.

Have you ever tried the 52 and 53 grain Sierra bullets in that 222 Bandit.

Yes I have and the Sierra's all shoot well even the 40 Blitz King and the 45 spitzer. I am a believer in lead tipped bullets for hunting and the hollow pointed Match bullets for target. Although I have killed deer with the 53 gr hpt match in the 223 and 22-250 all with one shot. The faster twist 223 actually has a little more jacket/core separation than the 22-250 even though the 22-250 velocity is higher. The rotational speed with the faster twist is higher in the 223. The 1-9 twist can be around 300,000 RPM's from a 223 Rem. at speeds around 3,400 - 3,500 fps. I got your # on your PM. Thanks.

Sierra 55gr bthp(#1390?) was hell on targets and varmints in my old Savage FVS single shot 22-250. Alas, miss that rifle. Darn good bullet.

My Savage 112 BVSS-S Swift does a fine job with the Sierra#1390. I would have bought a few boxes Wednesday if they would have had them in stock. The Swift doesn't go out much until the snow is on the ground then it makes a few winter time trips out for predators. Heavy to tote around but awesome shooter.
