Good thing I loaded up a lot back when primers were reasonable as I have only about 1k each of the ones I use and no more extra $$'s for more.
Yes, we have had several lessons in the last 10 years about stocking up when we can and sitting on our inventory when we can’t.
A modified view, stock up when we can, so we have something to shoot when we can't.
Yep, my thought is when supply is hard to get don’t trade or sell any components. Right now I’m in the process of trading off odd ball ammo I have for common ammo in factory boxes. If nothing else, if ammo gets hard to find down the road I have some barter stock on hand. Like other here have mentioned I’m sitting very good on components and those will never be bartered except for other components I may need in the future. For instance I have about 1500 CCI bench rest small rifle primers and I no longer shoot competition so really don’t need them. However I can always load them in any load and they are good barter for standard primers probably at 1.5 to 1 in my favor.

Hey Hatch, yep on the BR primers, was at one of the kinda local (42 miles one way)candy stores today.
Saw no LRP except for 1k of BR's, but plenty of SPP SRP, and LR.
Most were $90-100 per k, the BR's were $150.
I picked up a needed lb. of IMR4350 and a spare one of 3031 while I was there.

Only started shooting and reloading in 2017, so this was my (our) first shortage. It's nice that many here can weather this or next drought. I buy what I can afford, find or get online. Best to all our forum family and friends in these trying times, GOD bless us all.

Yesterday I loaded 500 more 62gr GoldDots over 25.1gr of Ramshot X-terminator for my 5.56 gas guns. All in 1X LC brass with CCI41 primers. A solid load that gives me right near 3k fps out of my 3 14.5" Noveske Afghans.
This morning I loaded 250 more long range missels for my Mk12 mod1, my mk262 clone so I can save my authentic mk262 rounds. My best clone is a 77gr SMK over 23.6gr of 8208xbr in 1x LC brass with CCI41 primers. Out of the 18" barrel I get about 2765fps and absolutely superb accuracy out to about 450yds. I routinely buy a half a box of clays and throw them up on the 300yd berm and bust them first round . I love that load. 22.8gr of AR Comp and I think its 23 5gr of TAC are about as good but the vel is not quite where the 8208 is.
Got 500 75gr hornady bthp's to load and a slew of the mk318's (both the mod0 and mod1's I could load along with a metric ton of 62gr TBBC's but I already have about 1000 of those loaded.
Do I sound crazy?

LGS had 2000 45LC handholds for .65 a round they bought with a gun trade in. New Starline brass with semi-wadcutter bullets and unknown powder. I bought 100 rounds. I am going to take one round apart just to check it out and to get some idea of how much powder was used. Then I am going to weigh each round just to check any variations. Worse case is I take them all apart and reload. What do you all think? Was I stupid?

Maybe it will work out for you but I would never buy or shoot another's loads unless I knew them very well.

I have bought some and have been given some, but I always tear 'em down and load back myself.

A guy over on Castboolits helped me out with some 300 Sav. brass for my buddies Model 99.
I deprimed them and threw them and a few other pieces I had from checking a few scopes in the tumbler.
Probably it for the bench today as the grandson will be here after church.

I didnt feel crazy doing it. Im now almost out of mags, both nee and used. I had about 30 new in the wrap mags, both p-mags and Lancer AWM's, and went ahead and loaded most of them, kept around 6 in the wrap. Really I like the Lancer better than P-mags. They certainly fit any carrier better and they are every bit as durable as a p-mag. Got some very neat colors too which help me id the loads, if at least the use. Brown is for long range loads red for barrier blind and OD for green tip m855. I also have labels for the few other loads I have store in there, gun specific loads etc.

I just have some much reloading stock I figured if we needed ammo in a hurry it would definitely be better to have it ready to roll than having plenty of reloading supplies. I do have some factory loaded ammo but its mostly specialty stuff like BHA Mk262, Fed FBIT3 etc. Its crazy looking at all of the component stuff Ive accumulated so why not load some.

I would be one of those "crazies" with an arsenal and "thousands" of rounds of ammunition if I ever ended up on the MSM. I however enjoy reloading alot. I hear a bunch of people say they would rather just be shooting but reloading is another, large aspect to the hobby.

Yesterday I sized and primed 246 300 Blackout cases. Why such an odd quantity like 246 you ask? Well, that’s how many bullets I have on hand.

I have more brass so need to get more bullets…
