This is just a 'representative' picture of the ammo being sold.
If you look closely at the two rounds - they are not flat nose or even 30-30 as they are rimless.
They look like .308 Winchester.
Heck take a look at the pic they are using for their Federal Fusion 30-30 Winchester Ammo 150 Grain Flat Nose.
The rounds shown ain't even .30 caliber! they look like .22-250.

You would think they would use a picture of the actual ammo they are selling but this is not untypical for online advertising.

Did you crimp the spire points.
Could neck tension make a difference?

I tried trimming and loading 150 gr spire points for my 788.
But found the 160 gr Hornady shot better.

Neck tension may have been a problem, never tried any bullets with a crimp groove. Just an experiment with surplus 30 cal 150's.

Typically rounds loaded for bolt action rifles do not require crimping even if the bullets used have a crimping groove or cannelure. Uncrimped ammo is normally more accurate as inconsistant crimps are a detriment to accuracy - one of the advantages to using a collet crimp die as opposed to roll crimping with the seating die.
Also the OP mentioned using 'surplus' 150 grain bulllets. If they were of unknown manufacture and quality they could have had differences in weight and possibly diameter.
I had some old .30 cal jacketed RN bullets I loaded up the other day in .30-30 and they varied between .305 and .308 in diameter.

You have one of the most 'unique' rifles Remington ever made and in one of the rarer chamberings.
I once had one in .243 Winchester and should have never sold it.
They were known for outshooting higher grade rifles of any manufacture and sell well in the used market in spite of some 'known' issue they have.

Ya their 150 gr picture doesn't look like a .30-30. This is a picture of the 150s that I have. Sorta looks like your spire point but lopped off.

Some newer, commercial FP 30-30 ammo has considerably smaller diameter flat points than ammo of the past in an attempt to make it as 'pointed' as possible yet still maintain safety from primer detonation.

They also shoot better in my Henry than the traditional shaped .30-30. I also don't get the inner mag tube case rim hung up with these for some reason. I think the shape of the bullet maybe, but can't conceive of a reason why that would eliminate hang up.

Possibly because of new brass, smooth rims and maybe slightly more rounded edges and possibly a bit smaller rim diameter.
Brass varies slightly from manufacturers.
