The reason to reload for me is not so much the savings but:
1. I can custom tailor my loads to each gun. Every gun shoots differently. Anyone who has ever worked up a load has seen the diameter of shot placement shrink on the target when you find that perfect load. Reloading = Better Accuracy out of a gun.
2. I can shoot obsolete and difficult to obtain calibers. I can make what i can't buy or find.
3. I can make special purpose ammo for let's say different range distances to shoot flatter and be less affected by cross wind by changing the ballistics.
4. I can make reduced loads for more enjoyable plinking.
5. I can make better ammo than can be bought commercially because I can custom tailor it any way my little heart desires.
6. By stocking up on powder, primers and bullets I fear no ammo shortage.
AND yes I save a crapload of $$$$. I get all my brass for free. I have a dealer account and buy bullets at a deep discount.
Happy New Year All!

Re: Un-loading
Cate, think-you very much for your considerate post. Always nice to hear from you.
TGR and Bugs, I have no argument, whatsoever, with your excellent comments on why you choose to reload. All very logical and accurate. I would hope that anyone thinking about reloading will read your posts.
As I said in my original post, though, for me it's become a matter of time. Although some may get the impression from my posts that all I do is head to the range and shoot, all week, I actually don't.
I have other hobbies and interests and I'm also very passionate about those.
And then there's my air gun shooting. Let me explain. I think a lot of folks enjoy reloading because it is something they can do at home to enhance their shooting. Most shooters don't have the option of shooting at home, so reloading is a way to bring their love of shooting home. I get that. We, on the other hand, are blessed with being able to shoot air guns at home, so when I have had time and had to choose between sitting at the reloading bench or grabbing one of our excellent air guns for a shooting session ... my shooting addiction has won every time.

Re: Un-loading
I to reload to tailor loads to certain guns. But I also reload to save on shooting. I keep enough brass around and load more in the winter than other months. I usually can make enough during the winter to shoot thru the spring summer and fall. I dont get to go shooting as much as some of you do so my loads last longer. I wish I could shoot more but theres two four letter words that keep getting in my way. WIFE and WORK. Just dont have as much time as I want to go. Al

Re: Un-loading
I suppose it could come to that for me someday but right now, I can't imagine not hand loading my ammo. I hope I never that get busy.
I like shooting ammo that I made just like I like catching fish on flies that I tied. Just a personal satisfaction, I guess.
