What did you do at your reloading bench today?

I put some 38 spl. in the tumbler last night with the intension of loading them tonight, but
I ran out of energy. About ready to call it a day.

My new Winchester 30-30 brass arived, full length sized last night and will trim this afternoon. My brother brought 100 large rifle primers when he visited last weekend so I'm ready to load.. I always size new brass but that's another topic

Made a little trek to the Reloaders Bench today, since I was in the area. Struck out, went on to Academy, shelves empty, racks, almost the same, pistols cases, virtually empty. Did buy a C02 pistol, as mine has gone belly up. Gives me something to shoot cheap.
There was a guy in Academy with his young son ( maybe 10-12 ), looking for ammo. Finding none. Somehow, got the impression, this was his first taste of reality. He was in a state of disbelief.
Wonder how many thousands more are in the same boat.

I don't know the man, but my first impression was, he recently bought a gun, and now can't find ammo. He just couldn't believe there was no ammo. Had to be a newbe. Maybe not??

It is the minimum load for use on range, my shotting club asks to use low loads to preserve equipment, targets etc ...

As I was not concentrated enough, I had a doubt about the load of certain ammunition...
Safety first, especially with the loads that are implemented with the 300 Win Mag!

So extraction of all bullets, new measurement and reinsertion ...
it is in this case that the RCBS bullet puller tool is very, very practical to remove the bullet cleanly and quickly ...!

Result:
- One of the ammunition was 73.5 grains, not dangerous, the maximum load given is 77.3 grains... but 1 grain above the desired load, therefore a significant lack of regularity ...
- one with 71.5 grains : same observation ...

In the end, no danger, but a regrettable imprecision for the 300 Win MAG ...
in 45-70, I would not have made a fuss, but for precision shooting at 328 yards (300 m), you might as well start with the maximum of chances ...

There are quite a few new reloaders that are posting on our local trader page looking for not only components but tools themselves. Not presses necessarily but small accessories like shell holders and Lee turrets. These poor folks are getting a real eye opener.

I have read on a couple forums that shell holders are at a premium right now. Who would have thought those would be scarce! Man!

Brunix, nice set up. Yes, you got to be careful when downloading for the 300 Win Mag. It is a great cartridge and is particular on how low it wants to go. Good Luck with your range testing.

Just noticed this AM, I ordered 100 Hornady 300gr. JHP for the 45/70 back on Jan. 12, 2021, still on B/O. No relief insight.
Of course, I was aware of this when I ordered them, but might as well get my name in the pot.
Just another day in paradise, LOL.

Yes no doubt these new to loading are getting a good taste of reality.
I myself feel lucky to be sitting pretty well on a confrontable amount of supplies.
Heck the other night I was cleaning up under the bench, pulled out some walnut media that I don't use anymore.
Took it to a friend down at the river, he still has a vibrating cleaner.
While rearranging I found a large coffee can about one third full of primed 45 acp brass.that I had forgotten all about.

The primers are probably worth more than the brass it's self.

I finished trimming, resizing, flaring, 50 pcs , 45/70 Starline brass. Got 50 more to do, then drop all in the wet tumbler.
Think I'll wait until I get the bullets before priming. Looks like that's gonna be a while.
Not a problem, I've got plenty.

Bought a box of 1000 Winchester 205 shot shell primers for $60 at my LGS today. He posted he was getting powder, primers. 9 mil and 45 acp today. Powder and primers were for shotguns and saw 50 rounds of 9 mil for $31, but I don't need any and did not notice what brand. Place was filling up when I left.

Ernie, I was at my LGS today also. The shelves were pretty bare; no bullets, no primers and no powder. Bought a couple of .357/38 plastic cartridge holders and a can of Ballistol. Rick is hoping a bullet and powder delivery will come in next week. Primers, no clue yet.

Guns and ammo were pretty scarce. Had maybe 20 different powders, mostly shotgun, but the only primers today were 205 shotgun primers. Did have a used Uberti 1873 12 shot 22 pistol for $430. Nice shape but I really don't need one although it has my prints on it.

Noticed today, some of the online suppliers have some Hornady Flex tip bullets in stock. No idea how long it'll last. Better hurry.
