I haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but I have some LE brass and bullets, plus the Hornady seating die. I wouldn't load standard bullets in the LE brass, as the results could be unpredictable, as you said. But if you load the LE bullets according to Hornady's load data, there shouldn't be any problem that I can see.JEBar wrote:this is the reason I am very concerned about Hornady 45-70 Lever Revolution brass .... their bullet requires the brass to be cut shorter than standard 45-70 brass .... this means that reloading them with standard bullets and crimping them at the crimp ring on the bullet seats the bullet deeper in the casing .... I don't know that the difference is sufficient to create a safety issue but I will not test it in our rifle
The site should be fixed. We show secure now, we should have a favicon and the picture aspect should be better.

I don't think compressed loads are as much a concern in rifle cartridges, especially the larger artillery ones like the 45-70.
However, a quick phone call to the bullet or powder tech 800 number might set your mind at ease if you have any concerns. I have called if I had questions and found the always ready to help, friendly, and with the answers right at hand in their databases.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.

agree .... over the years I've gained considerable respect for Hornady .... I have found their customer service after the sale to be outstanding ....bdbrown66 wrote:I wouldn't load standard bullets in the LE brass, as the results could be unpredictable, as you said.
