The Press, a second hand Corbins S-press. It's a smaller version of the RCE Sea Girt press. It takes a smaller die than the RCE Walnut Hill 2 and Sea Girt presses.
I'm waiting to hear back from Inline Fab if they have a quick-mount plate for it. If not, I'll need to use one of my Blank plates to make one. It'll be a nice press. Why did I pick up a Corbins S-Press? Well, a number of reasons. Richard of RCE retired and thus my source to new dies made by him ended. Corbins is still in business. David Corbins (Richard's brother) sold the business, and the new owners are still making dies and presses. This gives me a source for Dies, specifically new point form dies.
I acquired a .458 and .452 S-Die set from an auction. The S-dies don't work on the RCE presses. Both the .452 and .458 dies came with truncated-cone and round-nose point form dies. They are lead-only dies, meaning I'll have to core swage and core seat using my RCE presses. That's not to much of a bother. I am quite excited for the prospect of having a nice dedicated point form for 45 colt, and a future .458...
I also picked up two used sets of RCE dies. The first is 0.264 dies using an P8S die point form, and it also came with an RCE rebated rim die set. With it came an Corbins H-die in .264 P6S point form. I don't have a H-Press as of now. It's a hefty piece of equipment and hefty on the pocketbook. I'll have to keep an eye out for a used one.
The second set of RCE dies I picked up is a set of .308 dies. The first two are a P6S flat nose and a P6S lead tip flat nose. Now I'll be able to make my own 30-30 bullets! The second die set is .308 Russian. It seems to be a modified tangent ogive point form die meant for 7.62x54 and 7.62x39. I like the looks of it. I may see how it does in my 308 Win loads.
I also took delivery of a passel of 44/0.430 jackets and 45/0.452-.458 Jackets. I should be set for copper-gilded metal jackets for those two calibers for a while.
So now to the problem. I'm out of time, need to do some swaging, but most of all, I have two sets of dies for calibers I have no guns for. I'm sitting on .270 dies and .458 dies. Sigh.... One thing at a time.
Current list,
Finish range(s)
Finish picking up dies (a guy is holding a few for me)
Finish picking up Jackets.
Then maybe next year, look at new bullet slingers.
A little unplanned upgrade this morning. Site is working ok it seems.
