Just thought I’d throw this out there for discussion. 9mm do you reload for it? Other than maybe making a specific load for your own gun and the fact that maybe you like reloading is it really worthwhile. If you do a little looking around you can buy it for just about the same price you can reload it for.

Re: 9mm
I load 9mm using my Lee turret press using both XTP’s and plated bullets. I don’t load for accuracy just for quantity. I find I don’t shoot as much as I used to so if I weren’t’ already set up for 9mm I probably wouldn’t bother. I still have several boxes of XTP’s on hand and a good supply of powder (Power Pistol) and primers so I doubt I’ll ever buy any 9mm again.

When ammo prices are sky high, as they probably will be closer to the 2024 election, you need to be able to reload 9mm. Or just buy more factory ammo than you will need for a few years, right now.
Factory ammo makes for excellent currency when supplies are low and expensive, you can trade for other ammo or components.

Re: 9mm
Al, I have loaded some, and do have a few hundred bullets, but
as you said at this particular time you can find it for about the same or even less.
So for now I'll just save the components in case times change.
I really don't shoot the 9's that much lately, and I gave one to the oldest daughter last year.
I recently found these on sale at $10 each, and bought 10 boxes.
They are very good self defense round. Haven't tried them yet.

Re: 9mm
Since we've gone back to mostly shooting revolvers, we don't shoot 9mm these days, though hubby still has a 1911 in 9mm. He much prefers shooting revolvers, though, so the 1911 is just collecting dust. Our revolver equivalent to 9mm is 38 Special and we shoot that a lot. Not as cheap as 9mm, of course, but still not too bad and we have a large stock of it. Takes a long time to go through a box of 38s, though, when shooting a Contender with a 38 Special barrel.

Re: 9mm
About ten years ago I reloaded 5,000 rounds of 9 mm. It took me about two months to reload and two hours to shoot in my friend’s STEN in Montana.

Those along with the pistol caliber carbines can for sure go through some 9 and 40 ammo fast. Ive been enjoying shooting 9 lately in CZ semi autos. They are great pistols and just a ton of fun to shoot.

Well Al, I’ve been considering the same. Reloading is a hobby but I hate to leave money on the table, or bench.

Re: 9mm
Never have owned or fired a 9mm handgun. I owned a model 410 S&W in .40 SW but wasn't satifisfied with it. Not powerful enough for hunting anything and was not accurate. I traded up to a .44 Mag S&W Model 29 with a 6.5" barrel. My best hunting handload is a Beartooth 250 gr. hardcast, gc bullet atop 19 grs. of AA#9 which groups tightly in the revolver at 50 yds and 75 yds in my .44 Mag BBB rifle. I will continue to handload .44 Mag because I have never found a factory load that performs as well for hunting as my handload.
