W760 / imr 4064 for 270 ?

Post by Oldbrass » Fri Dec 03, 2021 7:29 pm

Volunteered for another project, this time loading 270 Winchester which I've never loaded. They provided bullets, dies and a bag of dirty brass, I have primers and lots of W760 and imr 4064, the 760 worked great in my 30-06 loads. Hornandy 9th lists imr4831 as the cats meow but it's scarce. I also have some Varget but that's for my 7-08 pet load. Wish me luck 😁

per my Nosler Manual

W760- recommended for the following jacketed 270 bullets with the minimum and maximum powder charges
100 gr / 54 - 58 gr
110 gr / 52 - 56
130 gr / 50 - 54
150 gr / 46 - 50

4064- it is the highest rated powder for 110 jacketed 270 with the minimum and maximum powder charge but not mentioned for any other bullet weigh
110 gr / 47 - 51 gr

hope this helps

IMR 4064 would work pretty good with those 130's, if you can't get any of the 4831's. No help with the 760.
