My powder on the way!

Post by fortyshooter » Fri Apr 03, 2020 10:10 am

Got an email last night that my 2 lbs. of Alliant 2400 was shipped out which is great. Now hopefully the MB 158 RNFP .38 bullets will arrive soon in the mailbox. Using Power Pistol or Unique for the 158 gr. 38 Special loads.

forty, what's your .38 load using Unique? With 158 swc's, I use 5.0gr Unique for my Blackhawk. Works well in that gun. And good for you finding 2400. Happy days ahead.

5 gr. of Unique will work for +P loads but Power Pistol will give you a bit more speed with the 158 gr. bullets like 5.4-6.0 of P.P.
Only 158 gr. 38 Special load I have used with a 158 gr. lead bullet was the ol' "FBI" load using the good Rim Rock SWC HP bullet with gas check
loaded with 6 to 6.3 of Power Pistol and shot out of my Ruger .357 LCR and S&W M-66. Fine effective round out of the M 66 at 1050 FPS with
great expansion. At 900+ FPS out of the short LCR a great +P 38 load for the .357 Mag LCR.

Good for you, forty. I've got a couple of lbs. IMR4198 on the way also. Be a while, I guess.

I know components are getting thin.

I just picked up 8 pounds of IMR 4198 at Midway. Their current haz mat is $11.49
