I'm just curious and had a thought. I wonder if one could use a wet tumbler set-up and instead of putting water, lemishine and dawn soap in it. Put some tumbling media, some mineral spirits oil and some nu-finish wax in the media and then tumble it for about 30 minutes to mix the contents. Then pour some dirty brass casings inside and say tumble for about two hours and see just how clean they would come out. Of course, I'd de-prime the casings first. I'd like to see how clean the primer pockets would turn out. I have a jug of the treated corncob media, some nu-finish wax and some paint thinner made from mineral spirits oil. I just might try this test to to see how clean things would turn out.

I understand a cap full of nu-finish wax, but how much mineral spirits oil would need to be applied to the media...???

I would imagine it would probably clean much the same as the vibratory tumblers. My understanding is the walnut shell media is more aggressive than corn cob. That would be untreated media. The stuff you show there may have additives that would make it polish more aggressively.

I think you would have a greasy gross mess to deal with. I recently took the 'plunge' and bought a Harbor Freight rotary tumbler to start wet tumbling and wish I had done it sooner - stick with the SS pins, dawn and Lemishine and it's quick and efficient and cleanup takes only minutes and the results are fantastic! I have NEVER had as clean of brass as I do now and brass cleaning is now fun again instead of a chore!
