I load trap door loads with cast bullets. I use Missouri Bullet Company #1 Buffalo Hi-Tex coated 405 grain bullets over 30.0 grains of H4198. Velocities around 1400 fps

I also make loads using Hornady 350 gr InterLock flat point bullets and Hornady 300 gr. JHP bullets. I load these at 1895 Lever Action Marlin load levels. Velocities around 1700 - 1800 fps

H4198 is repackaged AR2207 it is probably my favourite powder with cast in rifles, use a similar load myself as a light plinking load although I have taken smaller deer with it.
Also use it with cast in 375H&H and 30/30. Fantastic with 40gr V-max in the 222 as well.

I have had my .45-70 for about 6 years and have tried many powders before settling on IMR 4198. My hunting load is a 405 gr Oregon Trail Laser Cast bullet atop 35 grs of IMR 4198. Felt recoil is quite manageable. The rifle is scoped and shoots 3" groups at 100 yds. from a benchrest. Don't overlook gas checks.... prior to using gc's my 100 yd. groups were about 8". Lee's lube and sizing die is easy to use for installing gc's.

Thanks Pitchman. I have just ordered a couple of pounds of 4198, seems to be one of everyone's favorites. I have always loaded Jacketed rounds, and am just now starting with Cast. I have no experience with using gas checks with cast bullets and need to get smart on them. I have looked at Oregon Trail website at their products.
