Stopped by our local Home Depot to pick up 3 8ft 4x4 pressure treated. Now if I recall they used to be about 9-10 bucks each a year or so ago.
Today's price was $ 18.27 each !! Also noticed the 5 1/2 x 6ft. treated wood fence pickets that used to be about 1.60 each were now 2.79

Must be from the rebuilding to come from all the fires in the West!

Agreed. Finishing my patio(finally!), the cost was going up. Everything seems to be going up in cost.

Lumber prices are about as stable as gasoline these days!

Big Al, Why are you using as expensive as redwood for fence posts? Don't they have any pressure treated 4x4's where you buy lumber.

I used to love using Douglas Fir now and then. It was pretty expensive even years ago. Wondering what they are up to.

What happened to $3.98?

I think the cost has gone up because so many people have been home this year, and were doing home projects which increased the demand.

And even at $7.50 you have to sort through them to get good ones. I remember paying around $3 last year for some 2"x6"x8's decent enough to use for decking.

I priced having a house built last month.

Saw a report on our local news a few days ago interviewing a local lumber yard owner. He said that 2x4x8’s were selling for $2.50 and now are $6.00. He commented that in the early days of Covid the loggers stayed out of the woods for 3-4 weeks and the mills have been playing catch-up ever since. He also commented on the increased demand from both home improvements and the large surge in local new home building.

I wonder how local Timber prices are doing?

I got more waiting to be cut.
