Wife and I did our usual Friday morning grocery shopping and picked up sliced water melon and other fruits while shopping.
Remember seeing the melon container in the cart and putting it on the checkout runner. The checkout guy was handing me the groceries as I loaded my cart. Wife was helping also.
So around 2 PM I had a taste for some of that chilled sweet melon and it was no place to be found in the fridge!
Looked at the shopping ticket and there was the charge for it and nobody said "Hey you forgot this" as we moved on so don't know what
happened to it!
Anyway trying to eat a bit healthier by not eating cookies and stuff and more fruits and water melon will hit that spot on a hot afternoon.
So To hell with the missing melon slices as I opened the freezer for some of the Briars vanilla chocolate chip ice cream!

That scenario sounds familiar! Been there.

I thought you were going to find the missing watermelon in the freezer.

That reminds of when I was a kid. We had outdoor cats and my dad would freeze excess fish he caught as cat food. We would put a frozen fish out for the cats every now and then as a treat. I got 3 fish out of the freezer for the 3 cats. 2 came and claimed their prize. I waited and called. They always came for fish. Finally I decided the 3rd one wasn't coming and thought I would put the fish back in the freezer. Guess where the 3rd cat was? He was very happy when I opened the freezer lid.

We joked about catsicles for years.

Yup been there done that. Ice Cream taste better than watermelon any day.

Water melon made it home this time and I put it in the fridge. Kept my eyes on it as it went thru checkout and into my cart!
Think I know what happened last Friday. Today we had same checkout guy and he places plastic bags on a hanger as he loads the groceries in them.
Well today I watched him put the melon and cantalope in the bag and he went on to ring up other items.
I asked if he was going to put any other cold item in that bag and he said no so he gave it to me at that point.
Think same deal might have happened last time and bag was left hanging with just the melon inside.
