WE had a busy week here in Oklahoma. We had ... Tina's Studio custom ordered about six weeks ago, delivered. The building is 12 x 24 and in the colors she wanted, with the modifications we asked for. They weren't free, but were reasonable since they had specials ongoing.
- Steel security door instead of 9 light door.
- 16 plugs spaced around the interior every four feet, 42" off the floor. That gives her three on the side walls and five on the front and back walls.
- The floor, ceiling and all the walls are already insulated. We just have to provide the wall and floor coverings and put up the ceiling. (After upgrading the lighting from two bare bulbs to four - four foot LED fixtures)
- Upgraded the roof panels to the next higher quality metal. Lifetime warranty. They will last longer than we will.

Dropped it on the site of the old pool and deck. The electrician will do the hook up and add the mini split system.



They also delivered my Range House this week. A lightly used REPO from the same company. NO special orders, as is... but 25% off their asking price, which was already discounted. I couldn't have built it for that. And... it's a range house. I will only add a small window at the back and the turbo vent on the metal roof. I already added the heavy hasp and good lock. Don't expect any issues, but ... The building contains the steel reactive targets, a couple hundred paper targets, plastic resealing targets, target frames.... chairs, table, you get the drift. I bought the stringers and stair treads and put them together. Pretty much set. Might add a storage shelf inside.


The range is in progress, but I intentionally built it in the shaded area. It gets HOT here, 100+ most of the summer. I have about 90 yards to the location of the proposed Berm.
Most of my shooting will be less than 25, but I do have a number of long guns to wring out... and a new AR10 308 for varmints and vermin.


The big event this week? The Generac Whole House Automatic Genny. We had one in VA for fifteen years and loved it. So, 22K and standing guard. It was installed this week and we have missed having it. They did a very neat job. We approved the running of the conduit along the back of the house due to the gas line in the ground, and other issues. It's the back of the house and we didn't care.


The major projects remaining?

- The She Shed mini split is the very next project, along with power to that building.
- Next is RamJack fixing a sag problem in the main line of the house, missed by the inspector.
- The mini split for my shop is third.
- Tornado Shelter is next on Tina's list after the two mini-splits.

** The VA is putting in the Wheelchair ramp within the next couple weeks. We are covering the cost of a second ramp, as they only provide ONE here.
You need two exits for safety in case of fire. VA's VA provided two ramps for that purpose. We would have moved the ramps but the VA said to leave them and have ramps MADE for the new location installed on arrival. The ramps from the old house would not have worked. There was a six to eight foot drop from those porches. Just three steps here.

These last projects just about exhausted the proceeds from the sale of the VA home.

Looking GREAT Jim. I'm at a loss for words about all you both have accomplised. As I said, looking great...congratulations.
Can't help but feel though that the generator will serve you well.
We have a Son in Law just outside of Tulsa.

I’m assuming that the landscape and skirting around the she shed was from the old pool? If so, nice job of re-purposing the area, looks like it has been there for years with nicely established landscaping. That’s some angry looking sky in the background.

Yup, the mondo grass and sidewalk was from the pool and deck we had removed. The young single mom was happy to come take it. The wiring for the pool is "right there" and the grass will just need minor adjustment to follow the lines of the building.

Normally, I wouldn't put a range in the shade as shadows on the targets can be an issue. However, heatstroke can be a real concern for old goats, and it gets as hot here as it did in VA and I am no longer teaching or competing, so I am not forced to melt on the firing line. It's at least twenty degrees cooler in the area I chose, and the shooting lane will provide a safe backstop if a deflected shot should go over the berm. Hayfields and woods in line for a mile or more...

Wow you are getting it done Jim!! Where is your shed located in relation to firing line? On my shed I have thought of adding a 36" wide x 20" high
opening with a hinged door on the end that faces my target area. Then add a small window A/C unit in the window at other end.

Oh and the she shed is really great looking!

It's facing the shooting line. I can open the door, sit inside during the rain and shoot straight down the line. I'm not going to ac the range house, I will reserve that for the wood shop where I will spend much more time.

Mostly, the range house stores range equipment, and keeps it out of the sight and hands of opportunistic thieves.

Sounds like a good plan Jim. My only concern would be humidity in the range house.

I am going to add a small window in the rear, and a whirlybird vent to the roof to reduce the heat and humidity.
