Took the bike out today and.....

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Jul 11, 2020 11:27 am

Blowout at 60 MPH...oh no! Everything OK

My 1968 Schwinn Sting Ray Orange Krate... had it a good many years! Going to clean and polish and get new correct front tire.

1968 Schwinn Orange Krate first year they came out. Every kid had to have one then but I had bought myself the 1967 Sting Ray Fastback
a year before. I bought this Krate from a guy in Arizona back in 1990's. "JD" frame code.

Now about that tire... I had it sitting out in the driveway several years ago...sunny hot day and it just blew out sitting there!

Well I threw that bit in since having a tire blow just sitting there wouldn't be cool. :D
I couldn't get up to 60 MPH going downhill with a 40 MPH tailwind!!

Classic response!!!

In 1968 I was in the sixth grade and one of my classmates had an Orange Krate bike. I was jealous beyond imagine.

Great story.
