I had just called PT7 to touch base and catch up when I got off the couch to walk around the room. I went to the front window where I saw a male Northern Flicker about ten feet away, poking at the ground for bugs and grubs. Cool They are beautiful, woodpecker-like birds and I always enjoy when they visit my yard. Shortly after it flew away flashing its golden feathers, I walked to the back of the house where from my kitchen window I watched a baby Rabbit, no bigger than a Robin, dashing around the clover by my near-ground level deck like some athlete testing his agility and just as a male Baltimore Oriole swooped in to take a bath in the water garden, splashing and dunking his bright orange body in the water. With the rabbit and bird still enjoying themselves, a hummingbird landed on the feeder hanging at the end of the deck and stayed for a long drink. What a great time we all had.

I may be sheltering in place while the country seems to be exploding, but I found something to smile about on this bleak Friday afternoon in May, 2020.

Good for you, CT. Watching birds and wildlife always works for me, too. Never ending show where we live, so we are blessed.

Back here in Tall Timbers we enjoy the wildlife almost every day. I have been an avid wildlife watcher since high school when an Ag Teacher took us on field trips to wet lands to observe the birds and animals. We have feeding stations set up in the back yard for birds and squirrels I guess. Darn squirrels are relentless.

Right now we are seeing Scarlet Tanagers, Blue Jays, Redstarts, Cardinals, Nuthatches, Canada Geese, Eagles, ect.

A couple months ago we had tracks in the snow in front of our garage of a Female Bob Cat with two Kittens.

It's a zoo out here.

Nice big grizzly crossed the road near my place yesterday. On his way to the river to do some fishing likely.

Same here, I really look forward to visiting with our chickadees.

The pileated woodpecker has been haunting the trees behind the house in the morning lately. The hawks have sat on the nest in the woods. I have no idea if they hatched as I've been busy at work. The squirrels have been all over the woods and my raised bed and planting pots. The deer ate a cucumber plant, necessitating a trip to Lowes for bird netting and stakes. Now it's semi fenced in and nothing has gone missing. Plenty of wildlife to watch, if I have time.
