Wrecker Service
we've had Goodsam's Emergency Roadside Assistance since '09 ..... we've had to use it several times, 3 times in less than 2 years .... for the most part, all's good .... as this is being typed, we are waiting on a wrecker to tow our '05 Trailblazer to a garage 4 miles from our home .... yesterday we went out, cranked the Trailblazer, tried to put it in reverse and the linkage seems to be broken ....called for a wrecker and roughly 24 hrs later are still waiting .... apparently Goodsam is only using wrecker services that certify they meet some standards required for safety during the Covid emergency .... it appears that there aren't many such companies in our area .... we've learned that the wrecker dispatched to us yesterday was diverted to handle a wreck .... I have no problem with that but much could be done to improve the communications .... once again the wrecker is supposed to be on its way .... hopefully, it won't get diverted this time

Re: Wrecker Service
We've got AAA. Haven't used them in a while, but so far so good. The worst part is usually about 1 hour wait. But it is for road breakdowns. Not sure if we were home it would make a difference or not, we never had to try that. Good luck with your tow.

Re: Wrecker Service
So there are wrecker drivers that don't want to wear a mask? Other than gloves which most have, I would think that would be the only COVID
safety item needed. If all else fails a tractor and blinking light tow.

Re: Wrecker Service
don't know what's written down but based on our observation, mask and gloves have nothing to do with it .... maintaining a few feet separation, no handshake, no offer of a ride were clearly evidentfortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 11:26 amSo there are wrecker drivers that don't want to wear a mask? Re: Wrecker Service
It's really isolated work anyway, I don't really see the problem. Other than getting in the car for a bit a couple of times. Gloves would take care of that. Almost sounds like a stall. I would question the service.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 11:26 amSo there are wrecker drivers that don't want to wear a mask? I've been told that the most likely cause is a cracked plastic bushing on the side of the transmission .... we sure hope its nothing more than that .... whatever it cost, it will probably be more than it seems like it should .... I believe that's one of the laws of the universe

Re: Wrecker Service
my first thought as well .... that said, it must be pretty tough plastic, it was installed 15 years ago when the Trailblazer was built

Re: Wrecker Service
well, we just got back from the garage and she's back home ....4 hr turn around .... the broken part turned out to be exactly as predicted .... $53.28 total cost .... by today's automotive repair standards, that ain't too bad ...

Re: Wrecker Service
Plastic?..plastic...on a transmission. May have lasted a while, but like many other things, designed to fail.

Re: Wrecker Service
Glad you got it fixed so quickly and reasonably. I'd keep that garage as some places these days would have told you to get a new transmission.

Re: Wrecker Service
it is a local independent garage that we have used for well over 30 years .... they installed a factory crate tranny in the Trailblazer a couple of years ago
