First trip to Home Depot since the lock down...
And it might be my last as far as going inside the store!
I wanted to pick up a couple of 10 foot 4x4's and normally you go in on the lumber side where the carts are.
Nope not this time..you go in the one entrance the main one along with everybody else and you exit thru one entrance which is next one down.
No available carts inside like normal as they are tied up for curbside pickup loads. So I go back outside and lucky find one.
Now the fun begins as everyone is lined up at the 3 checkout points near main entrance which is a huge mess when trying to maneuver a cart with long 4x4's !! Plus now you have a close crowd of people trying to checkout and get out thru one exit.
The plan is to have people spaced out so why not have all the exits available. Why the end of store where the lumber checkout is located was closed is just plain stupid.
If I need anything else lumber related I'll drive a few more miles to a lumber yard only location.
Only reason I go to HD is it is just a 1/2 mile from my subdivision. No more stops there!

I noticed that at the Home Depot here. Lowes didn't have that problem. Business as usual, except for the 6" spacing.

I have been ordering from HD online Not lumber, but planning jobs ahead and over 45.00 gets free shipping which has been pretty good so far.

I prefer the independent home improvement store in town. Their staff is very knowledgeable and I know most of their names. I’ve been going there for 32 years.

Ive been to HD but its been at 7am when no one is there. I wont even attempt it on the weekend as the line to get in is one hour or more long. Amazon has been my friend in alot of cases.

I avoid shopping on weekends and have ever since I retired. I tell everyone my work week is Saturday and Sunday and my weekend is Monday through Friday.

That's what I thought and do also. But around here when weather is nice the weekdays look like a weekend!
Re: First trip to Home Depot since the lock down...
Sorry to hear that. Here in Texas my local HD's (two close by) only have a 6' s[acing restriction, No masks, no closed checkouts, no lines, no crowds. Other than requiring the one entrance door it seems as though its business as usual. Has been since this crap started.

I'll sometimes go to HD for lumber but generally prefer getting it at Lowes where you have a drive-thru and can load it directly into your truck. Like Sir Henry I try to do my shopping on weekdays, the drive-thru can get pretty crazy on weekends.
Re: First trip to Home Depot since the lock down...
I went to my local Home Depot last Sunday for a mail box. It took me well over an hour to get in and back out. About 10 seconds of that was picking out the box itself. I wont be going back anytime soon.

Anyone having a hassle checking out at H.D. should call or E-Mail the corporate head quarters. I realize that this happened before the latest fear setup but I had trouble with only one contractor checkout lane open in mid afternoon and several of us standing there with full carts waiting and waiting. I called the corporate # and the next day I got a call from the store mgr. When I went in again there were two contractor checkout lanes open .

Re: First trip to Home Depot since the lock down...
I had to go to a Home Depot today just prior to a doctor's appt. I was amazed that the parking lot was almost full. I assumed that there must have been a huge line to get in. Nope. Big sign outside. Only 200 people allowed inside. I walked right inside, found the only six 7 foot shepards hook poles they had left, took them and the finest Fiskars gardening implements I hadn't got mail order for the stepson and went to the self serve check out and was out in less than 20 minutes.
I wouldn't have gone, but you can't get the shepard hooks by mail.
