I came home from Vietnam 50 years ago. It seems like yesterday and it seems like a lifetime ago.
That’s me in the lower right.

A buddy of mine from Tennessee was in Viet Nam and would never talk about it. At all. He passed away 20 years ago.

I feel like the Vietnam Vets are some of the most disrespected vets of our past. Thanks Gene for your service.

I was a closet vet for decades. Then in 2003 I came out of the closet.

I knew some guys in our high school who went and never came back and a few that did come back, physically, but were never the same. Lots of sad memories from that era, but lots of good ones, too. Thanks for the post, Gene.

Interesting memories for you, I’m sure. Thank you for what you did. Honorable service says a lot about a person. Glad you made it through. And, of course, went on to help found the finest firearm site on the net.

Welcome back, Brother. I got back in '67. Wounded Apr. 25, '67, 16 mos. in Army hospital, Medical Retirement in '68.
This was me wading a small river, 4 days before I was wounded.
And, you're right, seems like yesterday & forever. Strange.

Thanks for your service particularly in that unappreciated time. I turned 18 in 1975 so didn’t go but I do remember carrying my draft card with me per requirements at the time. Your pictures are very interesting, thanks for sharing.

My late, older brother, ( I'm 65 and he was 3 years older ) was 1A, yet never got called. I had my card and graduated in 73 at 18.
Just missed having to go, as the war had ended.

Many thanks to all you guys that were willing to give your life for our Liberty!
I turned 18 in 1972 and was classed 1H on standby since they were sending troops home.

Turned 18 in '77, never even had to sign up.
Dad was 16 yrs in the Army, told my brother and I he didn't want us in it.
He said "I did enough time for the three of us."
