road trip

Post by The Wiz » Sat May 09, 2020 8:26 pm

Well day one is in the books for our trip to Illinois and Wisconsin for family visit. Made it to our first stop which is Chillicothe, Ohio. Good weather, a little dusting of snow in the mountains. Should reach my sons house in Courtland, IL sometime in the afternoon. Stay there for two days , then head up north to Wisconsin to my wife's reservation to see her dad and her aunt. Don't know how welcome I will be coming from out east. Her tribe has not had a single virus case. There are some rumblings about health check points in and out of the rez like the Sioux are doing in S. Dakota. I doubt that will happen. Stay tuned.

Day two in the books. Not much excitement. Ran into some rain outside of Indy. Stopped at the most filthy truck stop ever! Yukkie. Got to my son's house about 2:00 . Day three should be more fun. Going shooting with son and his daughter. She can't wait to show off her new AR that she bought with her own money. She is 17 going on 25. Of course dad, not to outdone, Has a new 1911 Springfield to show off. Me? Just brought the trusty Henry .357. He rented out a suite at this high end range, just the three of us blasting away. Going to be fun.
Stay tuned.

Had a ball shooting with the kid and my son. I had not shot a M16 clone since Vietnam and the thrill is back. No, I am not going to buy one, I will just use hers. Also, don't bet with a kid, who has 17 yrs old eyes, to a shooting contest, when you have senior eyes. More later. I am in Wisconsin now on the rez with my wife's dad. Chinese tonight.
