Are you making the most of the lockdown?

Being a girly man I am watching the Pioneer Woman presently. She is locked down on the ranch with her family and still producing her own cooking show using her children to run the cameras. She's making the most of it.

We're getting pretty stir crazy here by old lake woe is me, but we are making the most of it too.
The Wife is an attorney, (don't get excited, all attorneys don't make that big money you always hear about), but she is doing a lot of wills and such over the phone and via the internet. When the all clear sounds there will be a few weeks of signings to be done.

I'm doing a lot of yard work and honey do's on the house.

We do take out once a day trying to support our favorite food places. That's usually the high point of the day.

We just got extended until May 14.

What are you folks doing to pass the time?

Used to throw tournament darts. Recently pulled out the old bristle dart board and hung it out on my screened porch. Polished up my old steel tip darts and got new shafts and flights for them.
Been many years, but now I can bide my time practicing again...kinda fun. Shooting, only I am the gun.

Coop, been caring a long as usual, our job I guess is essential, so it's been pretty business as usual.
Just a lot less traffic to deal with going and coming. (Really nice)
Reloading and shooting right here on the property or next door at the barn.
About to fire up the scooter and take it for a cruz.

Also, helping the daughter with her new to her house.
Doing some remolding and upgrades before they move in.

Lockdown extended to May 31st in Washington State. I’m working in the yard and doing electrical work.

I haven’t spent hardly any money as I can’t go anywhere. Yesterday I finally went to the hardware store and bought several hundred dollars worth of electrical parts so I can stay busy.

I have re finished two rifle stocks. My first. A Gllenfiels 60 and a 336. Stained black with a urethane finish. Not to much on the line so Good learning projects.
Going to start on two 35rem now. A straight grip and a 336A. Going to try Hand Rubbed Oil Finish.

Also built some drying fires in my brick pizza oven. Built it but never put the finish to make it water/rain tight. Going to do that this summer. It is heat insulated with a manufactured expanded glass aggregate but I never stuccoed it.

Trying to source a pigs head to make head cheese. Just something I've been wanting to do.

Nice Vaquero. I talked to my cousin in St. Louis last night and he says all his neighbors are working on their yards and houses. Says the neighborhood has never looked so good.

What Carol is doing as a lawyer is actually termed as "End of Life", so she can have folks come and sign wills and such, but she puts it off unless it's critical. We did have a women come in two days ago, but all social distancing was done. I really feel sorry for some of these folks. I am the witness on the documents so I get to meet them. A lot are terminal and on their last legs. Usually a family member brings them in. Some times we go to nursing homes as the client is too ill to get out of bed. Course not now.

I know all people hate lawyers, but you should see the gratitude she receives when she does this. She was a downtown Minneapolis partner in a big law firm, but when we got married in 1995 she sold her partnership and moved out in the country with me. Then she go bored and started a small law firm out of our house. She charges much less than the big firms so she is very busy, but with the common folks we live around. She is doing God's work protecting assets for the clients families. They have no idea who she really is. A few years back she took a case to the state supreme court and got a unanimous decision forcing all the banks in the state to change how they did business. She did it "Pro Bono", or for expenses only. Needless to say I am very proud of her.

When folks as what I do I tell them I am a boy toy or kept man. She hates that by the way.

Ive had to much time to think and when I think its hazardous. Ive also been fighting with an airline to get a refund on some seats that were bought last June to be in Hawaii the past 2 weeks. My BIL has been fighting with the Condo people to get the money back from them. I have been going to work as normal and doing some shooting.

Must be something about ' Carols ' Coop. My Carol is an accountant and worked for a firm in town many years ago. She then went out on her own and helped form a group called ' Elder Team '. Each had their own specialty, but catered to the elderly with similar issues that your Carol does. She works from her home office.
She also spent 9 years in Japan, as her late husband was career Air Force.
She continues to assist her clients that are still living. Never did advertise for her business and is semi retired now.

Well, it hasn't bothered me as it has some ( lost work, etc.).
Been catching up on outside projects I needed done. Plenty more to keep busy with.
Then, of course, shooting & reloading. Guess I'm not so bad.
I'm doing pretty good for the shape I'm in. LOL

I’ve really been kind of productive, got my HoneyDo list down to less than zero. Been able to go to the range, read a lot more than usual and learned how to braid one of my granddaughter’s hair.

we were in Texas when things started shutting down .... we headed home a week early .... we are retired and are used to not going somewhere every day so spending time at home is nothing new .... the biggest change for us has come in the form of cancelled medical appointments .... my wife was scheduled to have a cataract removed on April 6th .... we just got the most welcome word that the surgery is now scheduled for May 11th .... her vision has deteriorated considerably in the last couple of months so we are most relieved .... we still get out when we need to and from a commodities standpoint, we haven't haven't undergone any major inconveniences .... Amazon shipping times have increased, I have a Lyman Case Prep Multi Tool that was ordered on April 9th and isn't scheduled to get here until May 12th .... not being able to spend time with our kids and grandkids has been our major downer ..... not being able to spend time on a range with friends has really been missed .... we continue to prepare for our June drive to South Dakota .... in short, life goes on

Just came in and I'm sore and tired. Hauled several buckets of black dirt with the 8N and dropped them on the front lawn. Then raked it in. Got the last of the mulch spread. Took the deck furniture out of the garage to the deck. Course the Wife helped.

Still more to do, but another day.

Things were never too different for me so I am just doing my normal stuff. The range closure was the biggest inconvenience. But that's over now. Been fixing fence all day today.

Same ol' here like any other day being retired BUT do miss just the casual trip to the store to pick up something.
Do like the cheaper gas and somewhat less traffic though.
