National lockdown coming?

We live just a few miles from a large military base and reports are of a lot of troops getting ready. Have also noticed a lot of nighttime helicopter
activity over our area since they have a nearby landing zone. My son has a friend in the military in Texas and he said they are getting ready.

Things changing..tightening up everyday!

This has been making the rounds in the rumor mill for several weeks. And not without cause. All anyone needs to do is look at the trends, and I have no doubt that the govt is analysing the situation on an hourly basis. They will pull the trigger on this if necessary. Right now I think they are at the low ready.

Freedom of movement is something we've taken for granted on these shores since the pilgrims landed on that rock. There will be objections if it happens.

President Trump said in a morning press meeting that he didn't "believe a national lockdown would be coming." But, these are trying times to be sure.

Lockdown? We don’t need no stinking lockdown. In rural America, we are free to live.

...or die. The two go hand in hand. After birth, death is just a matter of when, how, and why. Choices often make the difference.

Don't see it as a total lockdown, maybe to a certain degree.
Not enough manpower.

The feds are looking at similar type things here as well. Whatever they throw at us, we'll get through it. You can't keep a Henry owner down... :)

I sure like the fuel prices going down though!

Ct? I don’t think they are worried, or coming for us. They don’t really know we are here. We are doing well, being careful, as should we all.

I don't think this is anymore political than some of the previous comments, but

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurrection_Act

The president has limited power to deploy Federal troops on US soil. I'm no constitutional expert but I would think this excerpt means that absent violence just leaving your house is not grounds to deploy federal troops.

(1) The President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to–

(A) restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that–

(i) domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order; and

(ii) such violence results in a condition described in paragraph (2); or

(B) suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition described in paragraph (2).

(2) A condition described in this paragraph is a condition that–

(A) so hinders the execution of the laws of a State or possession, as applicable, and of the United States within that State or possession, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State or possession are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or

(B) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.

"To proclaim a state of insurrection is a necessary prerequisite if cascading powers, such as is found in 50 U.S.C. § 212 Confiscation of property employed to aid insurrection, are to be used.
Differences between old and new wording

The original wording of the Act required the conditions as worded in Paragraph (2), above, to be met as the result of

insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy

The new wording of the Act, as amended, still requires the same conditions as worded in Paragraph (2), above, but those conditions could, after the changes, also be a result of

natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition

and only if

domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order."

I agree as did others in admin positions here. It was supposed to be locked but wasn’t.
