Sorry, I think?

Post by markiver54 » Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:53 pm

Guess I need to apologise for my thread regarding the Corona Virus.
I personally was enjoying the REAL responses from members around the country/world. Seemed more real than what we get through the media.
With all due respect Gene; don't really understand the harm in it. We are all concerned about current events and what it means regarding our future.
I see all the likes you have received on locking the thread, however, I'm a bit confused as to what members found offensive.
It has been interesting to hear stories from near and far.
Maybe I missed something, borderline political, but otherwise, I don't understand.
I love this forum, and look forward to it every day, but don't quite get this one.
Please enlighten me....somebody?

It’s all fun and games until someone loses a wiener.

Seriously it was okay as far as it went but we felt it was about to turn sour. Besides there are so many other forums Where you can post about it.

In the meantime I’m negotiating to have a partial roll of TP split because I can’t afford the entire offering.

Nice one Gene. Mark? I am intensely political. And I saw a trend leading to a possibility of negative commentary. I don’t know what to think of all this, but am willing to keep it out of our friendly gathering. Be at peace brother.

I think it was petering along just fine. I don't visit other forums, this is the only one. So, like Mark, I found it informative and interesting to follow along what was going on elsewhere for real with fellow comrades and untainted by media hype. Preemptively shutting down a topic for fear of where it 'might' go is never appropriate. Nix it only when it actually goes off the rails.

In shuttering the topic I found this statement "It serves no purpose to keep it open" subjective, to the point of being inappropriately condescending. There are quite a few other active topics here that 'serve no purpose' other than as an avenue for us to share our random ramblings and everyday life's experiences. Yet those topics, better suited for a non-firearm venue, continue on. Comes down to enforcement of undocumented subjective rules inconsistently. Inflation has driven up the cost of my two-cents opinion to two-bits.

I to Mark, but as a mere redneck, I couldn't put it as proper as Mags did.
So I can only second that.

Thanks. Now you got me blushing. Anyway, lets move on. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity to drop our clever comments opportunistically in other ongoing topics.

I’m sorry if I closed the thread prematurely. I don’t think this forum is a good place to get the news about the virus.

I think I might be becoming a hypochondriac. I should see a doctor to make sure I’m not.

I don't think anyone was using it for 'news' but more for general discussion about the issue among forum members for insight, to discuss ideas and to share information.

Or weather reports, or NASCAR reports, or any of the many other topics we discuss.
No problem though Gene, and thanks for the apology....it's all good. ☺
